1ST DAY | An historic trip
Today, we made the most of a sunny day before the new school year to get Emma and Théo back into the routine! Rather than just a holiday revision guide, we went over the whole curriculum. First, it was Prehistory at the Tumulus de Bougon and the High Middle Ages at the Frankish King’s Silver Mines. An opportunity to pay homage to the great Charlemagne! The children said that if school was like that, they’d get 100% in every test. They were enthralled by the explanations and the activities on offer at the two sites. Our little Indiana Joneses explored the tumulus, built over 5,000 years ago (2,000 years before the Egyptian pyramids), and plunged into the galleries, dug between the 7th and 10th centuries to make the money for the kingdom of the Franks. It’s definitely something they won’t forget! For lunch, to take the place of the school canteen, we chose the Café du Boulevard in Melle. A delicious home cooked meal in a bistro setting, perfect !
