Spectacle : Je suis 52

A love life, of course! And as she tells her stories, the 52 cards, her partners, play wonders with the audience. But who are they? We pretty much know what cards are, but who are they that, in the 14th century, the Italian religious authorities wanted to burn them all? How did they end up in our homes? What's with all these figures of ladies, kings and jacks? Did you know that cards have names? That they were burned en masse, just like witches? Claire Chastel brings them to life, and plunges us into an intense love story in which they take on life and substance. Through tricks and words, spectators connect with the cards, with Claire and with each other for an intimate, magical moment that is sensitive and gentle, surprising and passionate.
