"Salvatore Guiliano" by Francesco ROSI. July 1950, in a small Sicilian town. The bullet-riddled body of the greatest criminal of the age, twenty-seven-year-old Salvatore Giuliano, is found in a ditch. The town?s inhabitants and the press immediately flock to the corpse of this hated and admired man, nicknamed "the Sicilian Robin Hood". From this event springs the fragmented story of Salvatore Giuliano's life and his beginnings in banditry in 1943, in Sicily, where, caught in the act of smuggling, he shoots a carabiniere and flees into the maquis. There, he gathered together a band of outlaws and adopted the motto steal from the rich to give to the poor. This won him the sympathy of the local population.
