CANADA ? NEWFOUNDLAND: Stories of pride
A film by Lynda Paquette and Martin Parent
The island of Newfoundland is located in eastern Canada. Its majestic fjords, rugged coastlines and protective bays have been shaped by the sea, as has its history. Over time, peoples have braved storms to reach its shores. Natives, Vikings, Basque and Breton fishermen, French, English and Irish settlers. What legacy did these people leave behind? It was with this question in mind that Lynda and Martin criss-crossed Newfoundland. They met fishermen, artists and writers, all committed to preserving their traditions. In this film, they invite you to discover the culture and wild beauty of a little-known region.
