Between the Gâtinais bocage and the Niortaise plain, Echiré is carved by the valley and the 18 kilometres of meander of the Niortaise Sèvre, dotted with mills and washing machines. The hamlets around the village are as many unexpected gems in countryside landscapes. In addition to its medieval fortress of Coudray-Salbart, Echiré today draws its reputation from its cooperative dairy and its AOC-labelled Charentes-Poitou butter, served at the Elysée, the Principality of Monaco and Buckingham Palace.

To be seen: fortress of Coudray-Salbart (13th c.), gentilhommière of Mursay (17th c.), castle of Taillée (private), church Notre-Dame, Château-Gaillard (pigeon house of 1720), residence of Ternanteuil, Braye fountain, Moulin Neuf wash-house, cooperative dairy shop and chain boat "Le Mursay".

To do: medieval in July and August in the castle of Coudray-Salbart.
