Archives Départementales des Deux-Sèvres - Département des Deux-Sèvres
The Departmental Archives hold the historical and administrative documents of the Deux-Sèvres region, from the eleventh century to the present day. Created in 1796 to collect the documents of the administrations and religious establishments of the Ancien Régime that had been abolished, they have been a service of the Deux-Sèvres Department since 1986, under the scientific and technical supervision of the Ministry of Culture.
The Archives are housed in a 1970 building, extended in 2005.
Its 4 main missions are to collect, classify, conserve and make available archives to the public.
The department offers a biannual cultural program with temporary exhibitions, conferences, thematic workshops... for individuals and groups aged 9 to 99.
