Ancien prieuré Saint-Barthélémy

The "villa d'Azay" is mentioned as early as 948. At the end of the 11th - beginning of the 12th century, Azay was given to the abbey of Saint-Maixent. Around 1300, the Benedictine priory of Azay was created by the monks of Saint-Maixent. The latter was fortified in 1489. The cloister could date back to the 16th century.

Partly public/private ownership

The private part of the Priory can be visited on request from the owners. An awareness of beekeeping is also offered, all at a cost of 50 euros for a group.
